Trustworthy feedback is wind in my sails

I've had the pleasure of working with talented folks at start-ups, non-profits, local agencies and large corporations. Technical prowess and proficiency isn't everything — large problems require careful collaboration. The question always on my mind is "How can I be a better collaborator to you?"

I've had the privilege of working alongside Nathan for several years across various projects and in different capacities—both as a direct hire at Concentric Sky & Badgr, and as a contractor for a challenging project at Microsoft & Xbox. What consistently stands out about Nathan is his swift learning curve; he is always eager to dive in, contribute, and elevate the project. His cross-functional skill set makes him an invaluable asset, as he understands how to approach challenges from multiple perspectives. Above all, Nathan is deeply committed to problem-solving and strives for clear, concise outcomes in all his work. His versatility and dedication have made him an indispensable team member, and I recommend him as a valuable asset for any team that needs an adept and thoughtful front-end lead.

As a Scrum Master, I loved collaborating with Nate. While the global pool of proficient developers is abundant, individuals capable of enhancing team dynamics through their mere presence are comparatively scarce.

Nate not only brought a discerning and meticulous approach to our codebase but, more significantly, he championed and exemplified the ethos of perpetual improvement. I valued how his influence encouraged the team to engage in introspection and fostered a culture of candor.

Furthermore, Nate consistently instigated innovation, even within my own realm of tools and processes. I recently found out that he spent his extra hours coaching and training his fellow engineers.

In summary, I cannot recommend Nate more. He is the dedicated team player you want at your company.

— Katie Foran, Technical Project Manager & Scrum Master II, Avetta

Nate was a great teammate and a joy to work with on our UI team. I pair programmed with him frequently on feature work and he lead the initiative on an architecture project I participated in. Nate's knowledge of front end issues, including accessibility and mobile, was an incredibly valuable asset to our team as it meant we could often solve tricky edge-case issues internally without getting a designer involved.

Nate is great at digging in past the surface level of issues and identifying things that will likely trip you up down the road. Our stories and their acceptance criteria were always more refined and complete when he was involved. Beyond his involvement with defining stories and planning, Nate has a knack for looking past the "right now" of issues and identifying ways in which a solution could serve a larger role in improving the code base systemically. Nate reaches out beyond his own team and builds relationships with multiple teams and departments, he was often an unexpected source of knowledge within our team and could identify and surface issues we didn't know were lurking in the future.

I would 100% want to work with Nate again if the opportunity presented itself and will hire him in an instant the next time I'm in that position (so you'd better grab him first!).

— David Koontz, Senior Front End Developer, Avetta

Good luck ahead Nate. Thank you for everything you did. You've helped me grow as a developer and you've been the best manager on all the projects I've worked on.
